Selecting a Dress for your Son’s Wedding

While it is your son’ great day, you too have a lot on your hands. While preparing the guest list, sending out the invites, deciding the venue and the food are all undoubtedly very important, choosing what to wear on the wedding day should be on top of the list.

Start the exercise at least a couple of months in advance. If you select from mother of the groom dresses at a bridal salon you will still need time for fittings and changes. However, you need more time once you decide to have a tailor-made dress. You have to go to the shop a couple of times for alterations to ensure the right fit. All this take time and hence, start the process early.

Traditionally, the mother of the bride selects her dress first and informs the mother of the groom after which you can set in motion the selection of your dress. Hence, keep in touch with your counterpart to quicken the process. Ask your son about any color cue or theme fixed by him and the bride as you have to follow it. Mother of the bride dresses are available in a wide range and you should have no difficulty in picking one that meets all the required goals.

There is one restriction though – do not select a color that matches that of the bride or the bridesmaids. The color of your dress might be a shade darker or lighter but never the same color. To maintain a harmonious look in the wedding photographs though, it is not a bad idea to match the color of your dress with that of the mother of the bride.
